Eroded cliff edges near Sheringham

erosion of cliffs

Weather being no warmer but infinitely drier, we plodded on to our destination of Cromer. Starting from Weybourne we tackled the remaining shingle and passed into areas of high eroded cliff edges with beguilingly soft grassy tops.

Diving off the main NNCP we pause for lunch at The Village Inn West Runton then ever onward through some awful caravan sites (but noting the geological importance of this area) to the built up areas of Cromer.

We are not much impressed by Cromer and indeed the other leisure focused towns of Hunstanton, Sheringham (though it has interesting areas) and Cromer.

Between these coastal towns are fascinating villages, often overtaken by weekenders from London with the gastropubs that proliferate hereabouts, but nevertheless genuine communities with real people fishing, building and sometimes scraping a living. Long may they survive!

We have enjoyed our walk across East Anglia - 93 miles of flat but fascinating land with a wealth of history and interest. We recommend it to you!
