Outside The Bell at Walberswick

April 2004

GEOGRAPH

The Bell at Walberswick is quite an up-market restaurant while still a good community based pub.

Wooden settles and worn flag stones in the main bar plus light bleached wood in the conservatory resetaurant. A wide range of food and good Adnam's beer.

We took the "ferry" (in fact one man in a rowing boat) across to Southwold and noted in the splendid church that the wooden statue in the nave is the same which features on older Adnam's logos. Southwold of course is the home of Adnam's beer.

The local museum features the Battle of Scole Bay which took place offshore here.

Dunwich is nearby. Once the second largest town in Norfolk, most of it has been washed into the sea. You could do worse than visit the excellent Ship Inn at Dunwich.
