Boat at Blakeney

Blakeney

It was raining when we left the Kings Arms at Blakeney ... and it was still raining when we arrived at The Dun Cow at Salthouse.

Along the way we paused at Cley, where we had years ago spent a fine weekend.

Today we had coffee and Vistoria Sponge at the rather good cafe round the corner from the windmill.
And a mention of a good-looking second hand bookshop.

The GEorge Hotel

The wind blew into our lungs and the rain blew into our camera lenses and even some of our waterproofs .... but The Dun Cow at Salthouse provided straightforward warmth and shelter and some good soup. The coastal bus stops almost outside and it's a good spot to stop at en route.

We strolled on through continuing rain towards Weybourne.

Along the way the shingle is quite tiring under foot. The wind continues to be bracing, though when the rain eventually stops it's the wind rather than any sun that dries us off.

And so we enter Weybourne, pausing at the interesting church - once much more than this - and retreat to The Ship while waiting for the bus back to Blakeney.

In the evening to The White Horse, Blakeney for a splendid evening meal. An atmospheric restaurant with very tasty food.
