Gaily painted house fronts

June 2015

Aberaeron ...

... is on the River Aeron ("aber" meaning "river mouth") and this is where we started our Saturday walk. Fuelled by an excellent breakfast at Oriel Milgi and encouraged by fine weather we took a brief look at the fine town of Cardigan (lively market town, very traditional in its shops and layout, still with a fine range of shops, including several active banks on the high street) and then on to Llanerchaeron, a National Trust near Aberaeron. Though we didn't visit the house it was from the car park here that we set out on our circular walk.

Following an extended version of Walking World Walk 1450 we lost our intended track more than once yet cutting across a series of fields made our way at length to The Harbour Master for a delightful and much needed lunch.

Aberaeron is a lively place popular with the sort of visitors who walk their dogs and walk along the sea front or past the (can I say this?) gaily painted house fronts. After that and an ice cream we made our way back to Llanerchaeron.

In the evening to The Ferry Inn, St Dogmaels (which is in Pembrokeshire) for two steaks and an excellent bouillebaise, washed down by the ever active Reverend James. Good service - recommended.
