The harbour at Ballantrae in Ayrshire

This is part of the Ayrshire Coastal Path. Unfortunately the first section from Ballantrae is on sand and pebbles which make walking slow and tiring. However the view out to sea and to Ailsa Craig (popularly used for curling stones, apparently) is some compensation.
By the time I've walked along the sandy shore and reached the old and now closed coast road to a cattle pen built into the cliff, it's time to turn back and walking along the edge of the new road is faster but more hazardous and less pleasant.
