Headley Heath ...
... is the National Trust Park where we started our walk on Sunday. Through beech woods with splendid views like the one above. The numerous tracks, however, that criss-cross the Heath are confusing without a compass bearing.
We paused for "lunch" at a horrible cowboy style Smith and Western American diner. There were lots of sparkly cowboy style hats and awful lager, and they refused to serve beer in pints! (though you coulld have two pints and two glasses .... However it was clearly a popular place - booked out so no tables for those of us turning up at the last minute for a bowl of soup. Then, not soon enough for me, on to Box Hill, renowned beauty spot, famed for its appearance in the writings of Jane Austen. This was chilly but good walking weather, varied terrain, some steep, and beautiful trees in autumn leaf. Another good weekend for the Walking Boys.
