By Coasthopper bus again to Brancaster to carry on where we left off the previous day.
This is the church porch. Another part of the church temporarily functions as the village shop.
Brancaster Coast
... is full of boats, waiting for the tide to rush in across the mud flats, when they will spring to life once more.
So many boats that there are warning notices that some will be cleared away if unclaimed.
Meanwhile there is progress on a new jetty and real signs that serious fishing is taking place. There are mussel beds hereabouts and they are a cultivated crop. The lobster pots are not just for decoration and the men loading the fishing boats, tending to nets and wooden warehouse buildings are not there to please the tourists.
We are delighted that Brancaster seems to be coming back to life!
Though maybe these awesome old chains are there just begging to be photographed rather than to tie down some storm-wracked fishermen ....
